Sumitomo Rubber South Africa

Custodianship

Sumitomo Rubber South Africa (Pty) Ltd (SRSA – www.srigroup.co.za )  is the custodian of Part Worn Africa.

SRSA is an African based tyre manufacturer, producing passenger car, sport utility vehicle, light truck tyres and truck and bus radial tyres, from its Ladysmith facility (KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa), for sale in South Africa and exported across Africa as well as other countries. SRSA distributes the Dunlop, Falken and Sumitomo tyre brands in 48 African countries.

As a member of the Sumitomo Rubber Industries Limited group headquartered in Kobe (Japan), SRSA strives to be a leading African corporate citizen in developing products with an emphasis on customer safety and comfort while pursuing high levels of product quality and economy.

At the core of SRSA’s company DNA, is a strong safety culture which resides in all of its processes. Tyre and manufacturing safety of global standards are core pillars of SRSA’s emphasis on tyre, manufacturing and customer safety.

For SRSA as a tyre manufacturer, this involves taking many factors into account, from the time the raw materials are sourced to the production process and the final distribution of the product. Precautions are built into SRSA’s processes to avoid accidents.

SRSA’s custodianship of Part Worn Africa seeks to advance the company’s already well-established manufacturing, product and consumer safety initiatives such as SRSA’s ‘SaferthanSafe’ campaign and Dunlop Container Programme, which formalizes informal tyre trade in a safe and compliant manner at 120 containers across South Africa.

With the safety of its customers being of paramount importance to the success of its business, in 2017, Sumitomo Rubber South Africa (Pty) Ltd (SRSA) embarked on its #SaferthanSafe campaign, to amplify its concerns about safe tyres and particularly that of part-worn and second-hand tyres in African markets.
